Pain when standing, walking or running is not normal.

An abnormal stance, posture or walking or running pattern can produce a number of problems that prevent you from functioning normally.

 

Gait analysis is the examination of how you stand, walk and/or run.  As a house needs good foundations so do you, but your foundations also need to move.

It is often necessary to look carefully at how you walk or run to identify posture- or movement- relates problems if you are experiencing symptoms in your feet, knees, hips or lower back.

Gait analysis includes

• Full medical and social history

• Details on levels of activity

• Examination of joints in the lower limbs, both sitting and standing

• Observation of joints, muscles and tendons during walking, and possibly running

• Examination of all footwear and related sports equipment as appropriate

• A diagnosis and explanation of the problem

• Treatment
